Kokkinos Aggelos

Angelos Kokkinos holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He completed his PhD at the Department of Civil Engineering of the same university, on the investigation of gravity current collisions using the Large Eddy Simulation (LES) method. His primary research interest concerns buoyancy-driven flows and, in particular, gravity currents.

His research lies at the interface of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and environmental fluid mechanics. Additional research interests include hydraulic flood simulation for flood risk management, and hydrodynamic simulation of floating offshore wind turbine systems, through participation in funded research projects. He has published 4 articles in international scientific journals and 11 papers in international and Greek conferences.

Since 2024 he has been teaching in the Department of Civil Engineering at the International Hellenic University, delivering the undergraduate courses Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulic Structures and Dams, Hydrodynamics and Structures, and Water Resources and Flood Risk Management.
