Kapagiannidis Anastasios

Dr. Anastasios Kapagianidis received his Diploma and PhD in Environmental Engineering from the Department of Environmental Engineering at Democritus University of Thrace. Both his diploma thesis and doctoral dissertation focused on the development of wastewater treatment methods.
Following graduation, he participated in a series of research programmes at the Wastewater Management and Technology Laboratory of Democritus University, while his postdoctoral research focused on the valorisation of wastewater from the food industry for energy production. Until 2015 he worked as Environmental Management Officer and Head of the Quality Department at a food industry company. He currently works at a multinational group as Head of the non-hazardous waste management projects division.
His main areas of professional activity include the monitoring and optimisation of wastewater treatment plant operations, the organisation and coordination of waste management projects, and the design and implementation of environmental monitoring programmes. He has also taught in various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the International Hellenic University, Democritus University of Thrace and the University of Western Macedonia, delivering courses in Wastewater Engineering, Environmental Technology, Biomass Energy Systems, Physical Process Engineering and Hydraulic Engineering.
He is the author of more than 40 publications in scientific journals and national or international conference proceedings, as well as two book chapters, and has served as a reviewer for numerous scientific journals.
