Ioannou Ilektra

Elektra Ioannou graduated from the Department of Civil Structural Engineering, School of Technological Applications, TEI of Serres (October 1992). She holds a Master’s degree in “Interventions in Existing Buildings and Urban Complexes”, specialisation in Reuse and Urban Regeneration, from the Department of Civil Engineering of IHU (June 2019).

Professional experience (private sector)

She has collaborated with a number of private engineering firms and offices, including: Technical Company A. Giannikopoulos – K. Vardouniotis O.E., ELANI S.A., Stamatis Koukopoulos (Architect and Assistant Professor, AUTH), and PETROS MAKRIDIS & Associates, contributing to private design projects, architectural competitions, scale model construction, and the processing and issuing of building permits. Notable projects include participation in the preliminary design team for the Thessaloniki Metro (MICHАNIKI S.A.), the preliminary design of the “DION” Museum Office and Multi-Use Building, a residential complex in Panorama Thessaloniki, and the central office building of the Bank of Macedonia-Thrace in Thessaloniki.

Teaching experience

Her academic career began in 2002 as a member of the Special Technical Staff (ETEP) at the four-year Department of Civil Structural Engineering of TEI Serres, which was restructured in 2013 into the Department of Civil Engineering, and in 2019 into the five-year Department of Civil Engineering of IHU. She has since assisted in the teaching of all laboratory courses in the sector. Following the completion of her Master’s degree, she was appointed to a Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP) position.

Conferences and seminars

She presented at the scientific two-day conference “Built Environment Re-visites” with a paper entitled “Integration and Recovery of Interior Uncovered Spaces with Environmental Criteria”, organised by the MSc programme of the Department of Civil Engineering, IHU & BE_lab, Serres, 6 December 2019.

Since September 2025 she has been a member of the officially established University Laboratory of Structural Engineering and Architecture – SEAL.
