Daniil Maria

Maria N. Daniil studied Architecture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1998) and at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, University of London (1999). She completed her doctoral thesis at the Department of Architecture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2007. Between 2007 and 2013 she taught (on a fixed-term contract) courses in architectural theory, architectural design and urban design at the Department of Architecture and the Department of Spatial Planning and Development of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since 2010, starting at the Department of Civil Engineering (TEI sector) of TEI of Central Macedonia, she has been serving as a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at the International Hellenic University.

She participated in the organisation of the MSc programme “Interventions in Existing Buildings and Urban Complexes: Strengthening, Reuse and Spatial Regeneration”, and coordinated the course “Bioclimatic Design and Upgrading of Buildings and Open Spaces”. Her research and teaching interests focus on architectural design and bioclimatic architecture, as well as urban analysis and planning legislation, with particular emphasis on urban public space. Her work includes participation in research projects, conference presentations, journal publications and co-edited volumes. She is a member of scientific and academic committees and a member of the Structural Engineering and Architecture Laboratory (SEAL) of the Department of Civil Engineering at IHU.

She has also worked as a freelance architect and has taken part in architectural competitions and exhibitions.
