Mikiki Foteini

Foteini Mikiki holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, 2001) and a Master’s degree in Transport with a scholarship (École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées & Université Paris-Tech, 2002). She graduated with distinction from ASPETE Thessaloniki (2006) and was awarded her PhD from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2013, with a thesis entitled “Investigating the impact of marketing actions on traveller behaviour in urban areas”. She has worked as a researcher at the Institut d’Urbanisme de Paris (2002), the Transport Institute of CERTH (2002–2006), and served for an extended period in local government (first-tier municipalities).

She is a member of the Trainers’ Registry of the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government (EKDDA, 2007), the Registry of Certified Adult Trainers of EOPPEP (2013), the Evaluators’ Registry of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT, 2016), and the European Urban Initiative (2024), among others. Her research interests focus on sustainable urban mobility, strategic transport planning, road safety and public space. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings and has participated in funded research projects.

She serves as Secretary of the Urban Mobility Committee of the Greek Transport Engineers Association, and as Associate Teaching Staff at the Hellenic Open University in the MSc programmes “Environmental Design” and “Hospitality & Tourism Business Administration” at IHU. Since 2014 she has taught at TEI of Central Macedonia, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and IHU, where she has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering since 2025.
