Kokkala Aliki

Dr. Aliki Kokkala holds a Diploma in Geology (2013), a Master’s degree in Applied and Environmental Geology (2015), and a PhD (2023) from the Laboratory of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology of the Department of Geology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
She was a scholar of the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI) under the 2nd Call for PhD Candidate Fellowships (code 99319), and received merit-based scholarships during her undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Her publication record includes 11 contributions to international scientific journals, conference proceedings and other scientific publications.
She has participated in 5 European and national research projects, with main focus areas including geohazard research with emphasis on landslides, analysis of geotechnical parameters of soil and rock materials for the safe and optimal construction of engineering works, and investigation of rock mass behaviour in various mines and quarries.
Her current research activity focuses on the susceptibility and liquefaction potential of soils at regional scale, with the aim of protecting critical infrastructure, within the framework of the 3rd HFRI Call for Research Projects supporting faculty members and researchers. Since 2025 she has been teaching as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at the International Hellenic University (IHU), delivering the courses “Engineering Geology” and “Special Topics in Geotechnical Engineering”.
