On 15 & 16 June 2026<\/strong>, the Universitatea OVIDIUS din Constanta<\/strong> successfully hosted the 2nd REDA_NEXt Project Progress Meeting<\/strong> at its premises in Constan\u021ba, Romania. The project consortium brings together the International Hellenic University (Greece)<\/strong> as Lead Partner and Coordinator, the Istanbul Technical University (<\/strong>T\u00fcrkiye<\/strong>)<\/strong>, the Democritus University of Thrace (Greece)<\/strong>, and the Ovidius University of Constan\u021ba (Romania)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, project partners reviewed the progress of the implementation activities, focusing on the harmonization of earthquake hazard and seismic risk assessment across a unified Black Sea Basin (BSB) region comprising T\u00fcrkiye, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova, as an expansion of the previous REDACt project<\/a>. Significant upgrades to the jointly developed platform REDA.p<\/strong> for scenario-based and near real-time damage assessment were presented and are currently undergoing testing. Project partners also discussed the present status of data collection and processing for the selected implementation pilot sites.<\/p>\n

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss and review the project work plan, clarify roles and responsibilities, resolve open issues, and decide the next steps for the successful continuation of the project implementation. During the stakeholders\u2019 session, the consortium had the chance to present the project\u2019s objectives and expected outcomes to representatives of the competent public authorities responsible for construction safety and inspection, followed by a constructive discussion on key challenges and issues related to public safety.<\/p>\n

International Hellenic University was represented by members of the Department of Civil Engineering (Emmanouil Kirtas, George Panagopoulos) and of the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering (Konstantinos Papatheodorou, Konstantinos Ntouros, Panagiotis Kazakis) who presented IHU\u2019s contribution to the ongoing project activities.<\/p>\n

The REDA_NEXt project (BSB942)<\/strong> is co-funded by the European Union (EU) through the INTERREG NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme<\/strong>. This support underlines the EU\u2019s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation, sustainable development, and improved civil protection strategies in this vital cross-border area.<\/p>\n

Project Budget: \u20ac499,511.03<\/strong>, of which \u20ac449,559.92<\/strong> are European (Interreg) funds.<\/p>\n
