Issues\r\nrelated to soil failures (exceeding bearing capacity and\/or settlements, liquefaction, etc.), slopes,\r\nunderground structures, etc. are examined.\r\nContent of theory lectures and application exercises:\r\n\u2022 Basic characteristics and mechanical strength parameters of the soil.\r\n\u2022 Presentation of basic types of geotechnical failures. Study of related soil properties, loading\r\ncharacteristics and causes leading to failure.\r\n\u2022 Methods of improvement and strengthening soils under various risks (exceeding bearing capacity,\r\nexceeding settlements, soil liquefaction, landslides, slope failure, hydraulic excavation, etc.).
